The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) triumphed in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections to win power in the city. The BJP succeeded by winning 48 out of 70 seats, which brought their triumph after 27 years, thus ending AAP’s 10-year governance period. The campaign developed an exclusive plan targeting the areas of infrastructure, environment, economy, and social welfare. BJP adopted a different strategy from previous years, where free water and electricity were the priorities. Chief Minister Smt Rekha Gupta Ji launched a comprehensive plan that combines efforts to clean the Yamuna River, remove landfills, introduce 13,000 e-buses and a ₹ 765,000 crore investment in road development. The social welfare promises included a ₹ 2,500 monthly allowance for women, free education, medical coverage under Ayushman Bharat  and the establishment of Atal Canteens. Along with these reforms, the BJP has also announced its zero tolerance stance on corruption, positioning Delhi for a fundamental transformation that unites progress with welfare.

Reasons Behind the BJP’s Victory 

BJP’s win that came after 27 years was due to the interplay of multiple factors. While AAP’s anti-incumbency and corruption charges on various of its ministers played a significant role, there are various other reasons behind the victory of the BJP in Delhi.
